Curiously, Michelangelo and his compatriots would use male models for studies or pieces featuring women. This practice reflects the inner struggle of Michelangelo to capture the idealised perfection of women as he had done so for men, deeming it his own "terra incognita". 08/2024

The rape of Prosperpina - Borghese Gallery

I was immediately struck by this piece when visiting the Borghese gallery. Its large size and striking subject matter dominate what is otherwise a small, compact venue. I am slowly trying to understand how to map a skeleton onto a figure and vice versa, this study is my attempt to do just that. 08/2024

Judas' Kiss - Jesus Being Taken Away by Carravaggio
